And the drivers for this controller are equally important as they provide communication between Windows 10 and the actual controller on your computer’s motherboard itself. That’s hard to detected which physical disk is Device Harddisk5 DR5, as I said the number should be USB controller ID, like USB port number. If you want to determine which HD was broken, you should unplug all necessary hardware first(DVD ROM, Printer), and test the harddisk one by one. Note that all hard disk controllers provide hard disk status information in single/standalone mode only unless RAID mode is listed for the appropriate hard disk controller (RAID controller). To initiate with, if users have problems with booting Windows in AHCI mode, return to IDE and restart the desktop, After doing this:)
  • Start the Command promptas an Administrator
  • Type “bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal” in the command prompt and press Enter key
  • After getting a message that the operation successfully completed, restart the computer system
  • Before booting the system, enable the disk controller in BIOS or UEFI using the above method and save the settings
  • The PC will only boot up in safe mode and install all required drivers.
  • Again, launch Command prompt as Administrator and type in bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot
